Kristof, colunista do New York Times, alerta para o genocídio que vem ocorrendo no Sudão – árabes contra negros – e afirma: “In my last column, I called these actions “ethnic cleansing.” But let’s be blunt: Sudan’s behavior also easily meets the definition of genocide in Article 2 of the 1948 convention against genocide. That convention not only authorizes but also obligates the nations ratifying it — including the U.S. — to stand up to genocide.” E isso me faz lembrar o seguinte: os norte-americanos não encontraram armas de destruição em massa no Iraque, mas apenas “massa de iraquianos destruídos” em covas coletivas. E, incrível, ninguém aceitou isso como justificativa! Será que os sudaneses tem umas bombinhas nucleares por lá, para que, chegando a cavalaria americana, ninguém os acuse de imperialistas?
